Sedona Bee Company is the culmination of a shared dream between two families, Derek Ladenburger & Raegan St. Denis, and Russell & Jaszmine Mayhew. We are passionate local beekeepers, dedicated to the health of our hives and the production of exceptional honey.
Our apiaries stretch from Camp Verde through the breathtaking landscapes of Sedona, allowing us to harvest pure, local honey that reflects the unique tastes of our region. Beyond our local honey, we offer a selection of specially sourced honeys, choosing popular varietals from regions where they thrive best. This allows us to bring you a diverse range of exquisite flavors.
We also take pride in crafting unique honey varieties. Indulge in our carefully crafted specialties, such as our rich Bourbon Barrel Aged Honey, where the sweetness of honey meets the subtle notes of oak and bourbon, or our smooth and creamy Creamed Honey, a delicious spread perfect for any occasion.
We are dedicated to saving the bees, serving our community, and supporting local agriculture. Join us on our journey as we continue to nurture our hives, harvest nature's sweetness, and share the remarkable benefits of honey with you.
We, Derek and Raegan Ladenburger, and our 4 children moved from Kentucky to Arizona in 2022. Prior to our move we had a small homestead and raised a large garden as well chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowl, hogs and bees! Raegan’s dad, Joe, had a love for raising bees and enjoyed showing Derek the ropes. From there, our interest and excitement of raising bees grew and our family made plans to continue beekeeping once settled in Arizona. Shortly after the move Joe unexpectedly passed. We now beekeep for many reasons: 1) Honey is delicious and nutritious 2) Save the bees, save the world…right?! 3) To teach our kids good, honest, hard work, and 4) To let the memory of Joe and his love for bees live on in our hearts and in our community.
After 15 wonderful years in Utah, where our family began, we felt a pull towards a simpler life. We yearned for a smaller town, a slower rhythm, and the chance to deepen our connection with the land. Arizona called to us, promising the space to expand our garden and homestead, to truly live simply. Back in Utah, we poured our hearts into growing our own fruits and vegetables, raising chickens – anything to bring fresh, wholesome food to our table. We’re passionate about passing on this love for healthy eating and the satisfaction of good, honest hard work to our children, guiding them towards a happy and healthy future. The main reason we started beekeeping was to nurture our garden, and the fact that they also helped with our allergies was a wonderful added benefit. The sweet honey and pollen became more than just food; they became a personal journey. Now, our dream is to share these natural treasures, these gifts from our bees, with our own community, right here in Arizona.
Experience the unique taste of our local honey, where naturally foraging bees create a diverse flavor profile that changes with each harvest. From Camp Verde to Sedona, our honeybees are kept right here in the Verde Valley.
In addition to being sweet and delicious, honey contains small amounts of iron, zinc, and potassium. Local honey can help combat many seasonal allergies.
